Oh dear ... my sewing machine broke at the weekend. It wasn't the best sewing machine in the first place, and has seen plenty of use. On Saturday morning it stopped sewing and started eating fabric instead.
So me, being me, took it apart. Not just a bit apart, but completely apart. Poked around inside it, blew every last bit of fluff out of it, and oiled the bits the manual said might need some oil. Then (with a bit of help from a mechanically minded Mr Mac) got it all back together again. And .... it made no difference whatsover.
As I have a slight sewing machine dependency problem, and couldn't possibly be without one, I had to go and buy another ....
It is a Brother XL 3600, and it is fantastic. Quiet, smooth and really light (compared to the old one!), and very easy to use ... it's made me realise just how rubbish my old one was.
And look what I've made with it ...

Ha! I've come across this because I searched 'Brother XL 3600 broken down' or something... Had mine about 18 months and it's just failed on me this evening. Still under warranty, of course, so shouldn't be a problem. But I'm interested that you say it's quiet - I've found mine a bit noisy. Maybe there's been something wrong all along? It seems to make quite a banging noise, even with a sharp new needle and relatively light-weight fabric. Or is yours just quiet compared to a VERY noisy old one??
ReplyDeleteHi Nina,
ReplyDeleteI really hope mine doesn't break down in 18mths time :\ My old one was VERY noisy so this was always going to be quiet in comparison. But it definitely doesn't make a banging noise, it sounds smooth .. if that makes any sense!
Hope you get yours fixed!
